                                                                                                                          OJJDP looks to support counties and states applications of cutting edge and/or research based, data gathered and tested recidivism - reduction polices, practices, and programs across multiple juvenile justice system components and disciplines, and sustainable strategies for reinvesting resulting costs saved or adverted into effective  juvenile justice prevention and intervention programs.         Through this, OJJDP looks to support counties and states attempts to make county or state wide juvenile justice policies to lower reoffending, improve outcomes for youth, and meaningfully reduce ethnical and racial inconsistencies

 This program is to build the ability of federal, state, and local government as well as tribal to put new programs or improve ones already in place for parents and caregivers in the criminal justice system to reduce the harmful affect of incarceration on their children and family members. 

The goal is to find and set forth new programs to preserve the family and improve parent/child attachments whenever possible..  To keep children out of the foster care system, help improve parenting skills and reduce the likelihood of the parents future involvement in the criminal justice system.
